One baby step forward, TWO GIANT LEAPS Backwards, New Amp Died last night

Well I bought a B52 AT112 yesterday.. Bring it home, and its great till... it decides to just produce feedback like crazy.

So I cant do anything till today after work, so in the mean time I start hunting down reviews and find out tons of people are having serious issues with these amps, one even caught fire. LMAO

So I took it back and it was the only thing in the tube world I could afford. I only had store credit so I had to get something.

Now since im back into the solid state world I decided I dont want modeling of any sorts, I just want a amp to plug in and play and some sort of way to connect stuff to my computer.

So I bought a Crate RX120 2x12 combo and a M-Audio Black Box which is the coolest thing on the planet. Once I learn how to use the Black Box I will record some samples it makes the PodXT look like something from the 40's its so much better.

So I have the Amp to play with and the Black Box to record with. Im happy..

Oh well I will just have to wait a long time to get a good tube amp.. Its ok I need to practice anyways LOL

Think about all the money you put into your project guitars and how much closer youd be to a tube amp by now without them.
I'm glad you brought the B52 back from my experience with them they are toatal garbage, but I didn't want to **** in your happiness bucket when you mentioned getting the amp so I didn't say anything

Aww, too bad man. I thought B52s were good. But Crates, I always hears (and experience) so many bad things about them.

The store couldn't get you a Peavey Valveking? You will not find a better amp (new) for the money.

That's what I was gonna say. Get a Valveking if you can. EXCELLENT bang for your buck!

well im happy with the Crate.. Its not one of the super cheapos it sounds better than anything in the store solid state.... And ill begin saving for something nice

But the M-Audio Black Box is the sheet.. WOW what a difference when I figure it out ill post some better samples. but for now this is a preset from it no editing other than a fade in and fade out..

Its a bit hairy sounding but its pretty good I think..

REMEMBER NO EDITING, NO EFFECTS, its a dry sound.. Was just playing

I was going to say ValveKing too, since I just got one and I'm loving it so far. That Crate might be okay though. I had a Crate GFX112 and it was good for the bedroom. Tried it with a band though and it just couldn't hang. It only sounded good at lower volumes.

I have a Crate Excalibur head. Solid state, but it sounds great. 90 watts, and loud enough to play over our very hard hitting drummer. Don't think I've ever gotten it past 3, yet. However, I AM looking at tube heads, and the Valveking Is on my list. I may just keep the Crate as a backup.

I haven't tried the Valveking yet (read a lot of positive reviews, tho), though my current favorite in the $500-ish amps is the Randall RG50TC... it's the latest all-tube amp from Randall and it's got a bit of that Egnater touch. It's a 4-channel amp with clean + boost and 2 distortion channels.

the built in tuner on top of the amp is a nifty idea IMO.
