Ooh have I got some great gear to play with over the weekend!

I went to my local music store today to ask them if I could borrow gear from time to time for me to review for Jemsite Comparison Shopping. This is the first piece of gear they have lent me.

So for the weekend I get to have the pleasure of playing with the new Ibanez Paul Gilbert signature Airplane Flanger. I've already had a bit of a play with it, and it rocks! Amazing sounds can be created with this pedal.

I have to thank Better Music in Canberra (http://www.bettermusic.com.au) for agreeing to allow me the privilege of borrowing gear from their store. There are a great bunch of knowledgeable guys there.

This shop is very good because they allow good customers the opportunity to try out stuff at home before they buy anyway. It's obviously a great way of ensuring a customer is happy with the gear they are buying, and if they don't like it it's not like they've had to buy it to find out they didn't like it. They are essentially doing this for me.

No doubt they are doing their customers a great service by allowing this, just makes me wonder what else other shops have in the way of used equipment before selling to customers under the guise of brand new....

Wow, I'm surprised people are getting so ansy about this!

Shops typically allow you to demo gear in store, so how's it any different? As long as the gear is in the same condition when returned how does it matter?

New car dealerships let people test drive new cars, and they are sold as new. Not really any different.

No one is getting ansy, just me.... If I buy something new, I expect it to be that way... nothing weird about that... actually when I bought my last car, I bought it new, and ordered a new one in not one they had lying around. otherwise I might aswell buy a used car..

thats just me.... others may not care, but new should be new, not previously rented out..

They're most likely to sell it as floor stock and knock a few bucks off, rather than try to sneakily pass it off as something totally untouched. Most of the gear I review for mags is then used as floor stock because sometimes in the course of review you have to open sealed manuals, break packaging to get the gear out, etc.

Yeah well the pedal was floorstock anyway. And they generally knock $$$ off the ticketed retail price anyway.
