Outdoor Gigs - Info Needed

Now that summer is here, and I have been dragged back into a gigging band, we have scheduled gigs at a lot of out door events such as "farm" & graduation parties and some local festivals.

Any advice on prepping equipment to the exposure to the outdoors? *The temperature here goes from 75 to 65 in a heartbeat, and the humidity changes just as quick too.

Outdoor Gigs

I hate playing outdoors... monitors always suck and everything just seems dead outside. *
I don't know what you could do different... but the biggest problem I've experienced when playing outside in the daytime is that I can never see my LEDs on my footswitch. *I mean the sun just kills that. *Also, its hard to see my rack tuner. *Good luck

Outdoor Gigs

We used to do tons of outdoor gigs when I lived in the Fla Keys. I also had problems seeing my LEDs on my midi footcontroller and tuner, even in my rack I couldn't read any settings. I never did find a solution for this. Power can also be a big concern, make sure it's reliable with more than one circut, and stay clear of generators. They can toast your rig in a heartbeat. I'm the kind of guy that likes to bring a lot of guitars to each gig and have them all around my amps on stands. I did this several times in direct sunlight with no apparent damage, but cleaned them all quickly after the show.
*We played a lot of military partys, 2 members of my band were in the Air Force, they were a blast. Good luck and enjoy the summer! *

Get an outlet circuit checker.
(Sperry 3-Wire Circuit Analyzer Model: #CA300A SKU: #34523 4 bucks.

Then get another one.

Then get drunk and stay there until September.

Try concocting a black cardboard sun visor for them.

Just a thought.

Along with the standard problem of not being able to see my LEDs on my effects board, my other problem is slightly unusual, in that I never hear about anybody mention it...

My hands either get hot or cold, and thus clammy. When this happens, my playing goes to pot as my hand stiicks to the neck and cannot move along the fretboard.

I actually took a load of wetwipes into the studio one time to stop this happening... LOL!
