Paul Gilbert - How to achieve tone...
how could I achieve his tone with let's say.....a POD and/or a Legacy? you can use whatever distortion boxes you like...but I'm not buying another amp....I really dislike those Laney's.

He hasn't used rack stuff in many many years. I guess the Laney's are the way to go but with POD try to mess around with the Brit Hi Gain setting.

hermit is right. I saw Gilberts last month and he's using only a tube screammer and Laney amps. Eventually a Boss delay

Agree what hermit said, but since rsvampire dislikes Laneys, it would be better for him to try a good ol' MP-1.

I've been trying to find his videos. But the economy is slow and they put the prices of the videos at 69.99 a piece!!!! my guitar lessons are 90 bux a month. So to ask the informatable question, what is an MP-1?

regardless of what brand, these days he's using a medium distorted setting in the amp, a
distortion pedal
for full gain, and a delay. he gets clean tones just rolling the volume down.

rsvampire,
the MP-1 Classic is the legendary
tube preamp
by ADA, used by a lot of famous guitarists, such as El Pablo and Nuno.
They made of MP-1 the main source of their astonishing tone.
