paul gilbert od pedal

i am looking to buy a pedal that will help me get a tone close to that on paul gilbert's new album. im using a customized rg with paf pros and a mid 60s 45 watt all valve half stack with 2x el34 3x 12ax7, 2x12 pleesey loaded cab.

so far i have thought of
* mi audio crunch box
* fulltone ocd (a bit pricey for me)

i really like the tone norwegian cowbell.

He uses the Xotic Effects AC Booster as a boost for his Marshall Vintage Modern. He also has a Keeley-modded TS9DX that he uses.

It looks like you have the essentials covered (JTM45, Ibanez with PAF Pros), so a nice boost would do you well. If you want a little more gain than the AC Booster, you could try the Xotic BB Preamp.

This is a little snippet from an interview I conducted with Paul a few months ago:

GUITAR: New Ibanez PGM301, vintage Ibanez guitars
PICKUPS: DiMarzio Tone Zone, DiMarzio PAF Classic
AMP: Marshall Vintage Modern

PEDALS: Ibanez Tube Screamer, Fulltone OCD, Xotic Effects AC Booster, Fulltone Soul Bender. (Not all at once!)
Also, I often run my Marshall through a THD Hot Plate in my home studio. That way I can crank up the power tubes all the way, but keep the volume under control.
