The peavey classic 50 and classic 30 are two of my favorite portable combos to play though. The reason is tone. These amps are actually IMO, the best combos peavey ever made in the early 80's. The newer ones I've played though don't seem quite the same to me(referring to the 90's models), they may in fact be the same, tubes makes a huge difference. I have a classic 30 that I adore, both for its portability as a
practice amp and its great tone. In fact, I've used it as a main amp for many a country/rock gig filling in for some local bar bands, and have had many great comments on my tone and sound. These amps are workhorses. Mine look rough as hell, but I wouldn't part with it for anything. And at that price. Take it.
I paid $350 for my classic 30 circa mid 80's and I've always felt the amp worth every penny of it. The 50's are even better. Doubly so with 4/10's. But opinions are like.....you know.
I think its a great buy. It is a great amp IMO.
