Peavey JSx, who's getting one?? Anyone try it yet?? PAF JOE?

Are the Jsx's in stores now??

Just wondering who's planning on getting one! Or if anyone had the chance to try one out yet............

The guitar center here isn't going to have it in the store.......i dont think they sell new peavey stuff. The only way i guess if it is a used item.

The new cd's tone sounds nice ...........but then again, he's also playing the new JS guitar with PAF Joe.

Anyone play the new Js1000? And is the new PAF Joe pickup for sale?

Guess i'll just goto Dimarzio's site........................

But i'd like opinions for those who've actually played these...........

I haven't heard either piece of gear in person yet. The JSX are in the new Musicians Friend, so they should be available. The PAF JOE is already available too.

I work for a Peavey dealer. We have a couple of JSX's on order, but as far as I know, they haven't shipped yet. (I could be wrong... it's happened before.) I'll try one get here and post a report or sorts.

And acording to the North American Dealer Catalogue and the Canadian Price list, the JS-1200 has the Fred/PAF Pro combo like all the others...

Joe had one on stage at the Dallas guitar show last weekend, but I did not see one at the PV booth.

That's a misprint.

Ibanez update once a year.

The JS1200 has a PAF Joe in it.

I'm afraid that the JSx might just be a 6100 in a Peavey casing.

I don't think it even has a footswitch to change channels......anyone know if it has one, or can it use one?

I wonder how the distortion on the amp itself sounds......... I'm just assuming that Joe is still using the Ds-1 for his distortion.

Any of you who have these and also too much time on your hands......please record some sound bytes and post them

There is a very detailed review in the current issue of Guitar Player. The channels are footswitchable, passive EQ for clean channel, active EQ for crunch and lead channels. Effects loop with both send and return level controls, and also an attenuated line-output jack. IIRC, the main reason for the delay is finishing up the chrome plating which attaches to the front of the amp. I guess either it's taking longer than expected, or else there were QC problems with the panels...After hearing Joe play it live last week, I'm really looking forward to checking it out. Hope it's not too long...

Oops, almost forgot, Joe is NOT using his DS-1. Stricly using the amp's distortion and guitar volume control. Hope that helps...

if Joe isn't using his Ds-1, the amp distortion tone is really nice..........at least it sounds that way on the new cd.

I wonder how the Ds-1 sounds in the clean channel though.........i'm sure he still has the Ds-1 in his pedalboard, maybe he uses it here and there?

Didn't he use the Ds-1 when he demo'd the Jsx at NAMM?? I saw that video of his demo from Harmony central, and there was a part where he switched on the ds-1 before playing satch boogie.......or did he just turn the ultra channel on?? You can hear the high noise after he switched it on......

Don't forget that most of the new CD was finished prior to Peavey completing the JSX for Joe. You are hearing a ton of different guitars and amps (just like on most of Joe's releases). The Peavey is featured on several tracks, but is usually only one of several instruments you're hearing. You are also hearing one of the prototypes (I believe Joe went through 5 or 6 before the final version was approved) The clean channel is supposedly great for all kinds of pedals, but I recall when I met him briefly at the G3 aftershow that he was only using the amp distortion for his live set. Since the gain is based in part on the XXX design, I can't imagine you'd want or need a boost pedal in that channel anyway.

It's far from that. The JSX doesn't really have that smooth, 6100 sound. I'm not saying it doesn't sound good, but if what I heard at G3 was the JSX (or one of the final protoypes), it doesn't really sound like his Marshall. The JSX is a three-channel amp, whic of course means it's footswitchable. http://peavey.com/products/new/jsx.cfm

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/produc.../JS1200CA.html Ibanez USA needs to update their site.

The jsx is like the peavey xxx but with more features. If you like the xxx you will like the jsx only better. The only thing I didn't like was the eq. They use an active type eq and it comes on really strong. The best thing about it is that you don't have to eq it alot. You can scoop the mids by the shovel full! The clean channel is quite bright.........nice with a single coil for that joe icsicle sound. These amps are built like a tank and weight about as much. A little pricey but what good tube amp isn't these days.
