Peavey Triple X head - Anyone played through one yet?

Has anyone played through one of the new peavey triple x heads yet? Just wondered if they've got a good tone or not. There's no peavey dealers around here so I'm out of luck testing out one to see if it's worth shelling out the bucks.

I think they cost around $800 to $1000. That's what I've heard. I just wonder if they're worth it or not.

I bet they'll be cool. The Ultra Plus sounds nice & if I had to specualte...
I bet the Triple X has a mod similar to the 5150-II. By that I mean the attack is quicker so the definition, articulation will be better. And the ability to run EL-34s will only enhance it.

My bet is that the amp will go for the "rectifier sound" and miss. *I've never played an amp that comes close to my triple rectifier. *Don't get me wrong, I love the legacy for what it does, but for some reason, I am expecting a disappointment from the XXX. *Only time will tell.

I hope it does not sound like the Triple Rectifier.
The comparison will be there, no matter what. It does have the 'recto' head look. Hopefully, that's where the similarities end & it'll have a voice we can get into on it's own merit.
That being said, no matter how good it really sounds, there will be those who won't give it anything but condemnation. So......smoke your favorite brand...

It is a solid state rectifier head, I know that much & it does not have switchable rectification.

I think if it had a voice all it's own it should've had a look all it's own to begin with...if it's got the reco head look.....more than likely it's goin for the reco sound...

I agree, I hope for all that stuff too... *I agree with RS though. *It's something about Peavey amps and their marketing of this new amp that makes me wonder.

IMHO, I really think the design of the amp is meant to be similar to the Recto thereby drawing attention but with the "irreverant poke" attitude, too. I think it looks silly, but it's not designed for me so big deal.

The first time I saw the MESA ad with the Recto head complete with armadila & the "armor plating" on the Recto 4x12 cab I laughed. Armor plating?! Who's shooting at it?!

Thought for the day: silly is as silly has already done.
