Peavy Amps - any good?

I am getting a deal at a store that one of my friends owns, i can basically pick out anything i want for about 500 dollars off. *The only thing is, i really dont want another guitar and the only amps that the store carries are peavey. *I was just wondering if peavey amps are any good, i have not heard much about them. *Can they even compare to crate or even marshall. *I need another good amp, but if peavey is no good, i guess i could just buy a ton of pedals. *Thanks for your help. *-Kyle

Peavy Amps

If you can get your hands on a peavey ultra go for it. *all in all peavey amps are not that bad. My only real problem with them would have to be the speakers.

Peavy Amps

I have four heads, a Soldano Decatone, a Marshall TSL, an ENGL Savage 120 and a Peavey 5150. (I just sold my Mesa Dual Rek). *My favourite amp is my Peavey 5150. *It, and I, don't do clean. The new XXX by Peavey is getting great press, but I haven't heard on yet.

Peavy Amps

A couple of my freinds have been playing their Peavey Bandits for years, as practice ams, and they have never been let down. I actually just got my 5150 this week and I'm impressed with the build quality.

I have read good things about the new XXX but haven't head one yet.

I like the classic series (30, 50, Delta Blues) for a fat clean tube tone...excellent value.

As far as i know the higher-end ones are really good. As long as you stay away from the cheap transtube ones you'll be fine. I own one of the practice amps they make, and I'm not happy with it. The clean chanel is actually fine, but the drive......

I played through, then ordered a new triple X. Distortion on the Ultra channel is triple recto over the top!!! This thing is coming on strong, I feel that when word finally gets out, it will be a top selling amp. Get one new now for around 750.00 you wont be dissapointed. The clean channel is better than my TSL !!!!

Peavy Amps

It sounded pretty decent to me, but not very tubey. *Extremely crisp though, perfect for something like Pantera on the high gain settings.

I didnt get a crisp impression except on the clean channel, I guess its how you switch it up. I had the thing sounding like the bottom end was coming from some dungeon in hell !!!! I love my TSL but this thing will turn you into a puddle of foam if you crank the gain, Gawd !!!!!!
