pedal questions

hey guys
Today i treated myself to a post exam prezzie, i bought a boss DS1 and Hiband flanger, can anyone tell me the correct way to line these up to my amp (my other pedals are a boss chorus ensemble and dunlop wah) and also does anyone have any decent settings for DS1, i love the sound of it so much that i think i`ll be abandoning my marshall in favour of it for a while! however im having trouble getting a decent sound out of the flanger is this normal or because its a high band flanger
Cheers!

Generally (but NEVER set in stone):

Wah->Distortion->Chorus/Flange->Delay/Reverb->Amp

Or if your amp has effects loops, some people find:

Wah->Distortion->Amp->(Loop out)Chorus/Flange->Delay/Reverb(LoopIn)

Always play with your gear. You might find "THE SOUND", but I'm sure
you'll come up with something cool here and there.

The HF-2 Hi Band Flanger's emphasis is on flanging the overtones and thus you get, what I've found to be, a more gentle-sounding flange. I like mine quite a bit. It was my first Boss pedal that I got as a Christmas gift from my father in 1988. I set mine like this:

Manual: 12:00
Rate: 10-11:00
Depth: 2-4:00
Resonance: 10-2:00

I recommend the DS-1 directly after the guitar. Other effects I recommend through an effects loop if you have one but afetr the DS-1 nonetheless. Wah pedals.......play with the placement since that can vary the result significantly (even before the DS-1). I like the response above. It's traditional and works for most people. Another nice sound is having the chorus AFTER the delay and/or reverb. These days I reverberate last but I have a few effects between the delay and reverb.
No rules here.
