PEDALS?

Hey all. As some of you know, I recently got a Mesa Boogie Mark IV Widebody Combo. Now I'm looking into purchasing a few pedals to compliment this great sounding amp. I was thinking I need at least 3 pedals, a chorus, a delay, and a compressor/sustainer. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON BRAND AND WHICH PEDALS? I was using an amp with all effects built in, so I'm not sure what is considered "good" quality any longer. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Re: PEDALS?

BOSS is the way to go,

the DD-6 delay is awesome and the CE-5 or CH-1 chorus' are both good

...i've never owned a compressor/sustainer

Re: PEDALS?

Yo,
I have a Mark IV also, and, yeah, they're great! I'd suggest adding an overdrive and/or boost pedal to your lineup. The Mark IV's distortion is outstanding, but as you already discovered, it's a loud amp and it doesn't really come on in all its glory until it's cranked. Having an OD/boost on the front end can make it easier to get creamy sustain at lower volumes, and is also very useful for punching up the volume for solos.

Re: PEDALS?

I would try to find a Japanese BOSS CE-2 on e-b-a-y or somewhere. These things sound very good compared to modern digital choruses.

As far as delay goes, I love my Line 6 Echo Park (even more so than the DD-6). Great pedal.

Instead of a compressor, I would look into using that money to get a Keeley-modded Ibanez TS9DX. This pedal is probably my favorite of all. The rich sustain and creamy overdrive that can be had from it are to die for.

x2 on the echo park.. I love that thing..

but my holy grail of tone and my favorite pedal is the line6 uber metal.. that pedal is so versatile I am going to get another one.. Cause I found a setting that just is the bee's knee's for my 7 string

Re: PEDALS?

Yep, I have the Uber Metal as well. Isn't really my cup of tea, but you can produce some searing tones with it.

Re: PEDALS?

try a yamaha magicstomp II for your modulation effects.
the sound quality is awesome, almost as good as studio rack stuff..
you might still be able to find em at MF or GC on closeout for 80 bucks.

Re: PEDALS?

i have a g major in the loop of my Mark IV and it suits all my needs very very well. sounds very good. effects are very high quality, plus it's all kept in one handy unit. I swore against having multis for my main effects, but after i tried the G major i was turned back on to them. no useless effects. just great quality delays, reverbs, chorus, flange, etc. Pitch shifter is decent. no harmonizer though

x3 on the echo park.

Boss CH-1 Kicks arse

I would recommend a dunlop 95Q and a digitech turbo flange. You can get them cheap here

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showth...ghlight=flange

Seriously though, the turbo flange is really cool.

Re: PEDALS?

This brand is overlooked on this forum, but checkout some boutique stuff from MI Audio. They will be releasing a compressor and Analog Digital Delay by Xmas. Can't wait to pickup their delay.

Re: PEDALS?

Forget 'em all and stick a TC - Electronics G-Major in the effects loop - you can even configure the G-Major to do the Boogie's channel switching when you change patches via a MIDI controller.

Cheers

David

Re: PEDALS?

David, don't TC - Electronics also make a singular chorus pedal?
If it sounds anything like the Chorus on the G-Major, it would be one sweet sounding Analog Chorus.
