Pick noise

I've been working on my tone alot lately, and I can't seem to get rid of the noise the pick makes when it touches the strings. I get a loud scratch/click noise before every note, especially noticable when I'm using higher gain. I'm guessing this is in part due to my technique - what should I change?

I use Dunlop Gator Grip 1.14mm picks (blue) - maybe I should try something thinner/slicker?

I find that when i use a tad too much compression on my Line 6 AX212, it will bring out the noises my pick makes up a lot. What kind of amp/effects are you using?

I'm using a Line6 Spider, no effects and no compression. Of course the pick noise gets worse when I start dialing in reverb and delay...

Just get used to it. Listen to Paul Gilbert's playing for example. He uses this "noise" to emphasize the crispness of his picking technique. Also remember, the faster your pick moves (faster doesn't mean increasing the length of a stroke, though) the shorter this initial noise will be.
