Pickup question but not your usual pish

Ok P90's

We can all get humbuckers and humbucking strat sized pups but no choice for a humbucking P90 type.

Kent Armstrong and Dimarzio do one humbucking version each but how good are they ? Anyone know ?

Failing that I wonder if a Fast track would fit in the P90 shell ?

P

Hey Dimarzio !!! do a P90 sized ToneZone

Are the Gibson BurstBuckers P90 sized? Not that I know what they sound like.

Aren't P90's just humbucker sized single coils with a sound somewhere in between the two?

Hey,
I just started a new thread about converting a P90 equipped guitar into a humbucker. Then I found this thread. Anyway, I also considered the Dimarzio DLX or Minibuckers, but it seems like having humbuckers gives you a lot more options in terms of pickup choice. So I'm probably going to make the switch. But I'd be interested in hearing more about the P90 options before I plug in the router.

Seymour Duncan has a stacked P-90 version, this reduces the noise considerably as it's a stacked humbucker. Check out the SD STK-P1.

Dimarzio's DLX Plus is another option. it's a P-90 sized humbucker so it'll fit into a p-90 cavity. here's a blurred pic of my LP which sports the DLX Plus in the bridge...

It sucks that you can't get suped up P90's for those who don't want to change the look of your guitar or even any choice on them. Each company only does one or two if you include the humbucking (which IS purely for the hum negating effect)

Oh well....

I had a set of DiMarzio DLX in the neck and bridge of my Epi Les Paul Gold Top. They have an excellent sound. They retain most of the bite of the original P-90's, but are alot warmer in the bass and midrange.
