Piezo pickups

Ok, so let me get this straight.

If I have a guitar with a double edge, can I flick the switch, plug into the other input, and have an acoustic sound? Or do I need an acoustic amp?

An acoustic amp or a keyboard amp works great. With my Brian Moore, I plug the piezos direct into the mixer for the pa.
A regular guitar amp just wont really produce an accurate acoustic tone.

Well, I dont' really have to have a good tone, its for playing at my church, and right now I'm using the crappiest acoustic simulator on the market (on of those bi-pedal multi effect units from zoom that cost like 80 bucks)

And everyone there can't even say the word tone. They just want a "deep" sound.

Piezo-equipped solidbodies sound okay, but nothing compares to a big box of air moving. A piezo on its own into an acoustic amp or a PA sounds okay, but you need a good DI box and/or EQ to really tweak the sound so it gets a bit more full and warm.

Or try a Yamaha DG Stomp, which is essentially a mic modeller that apparently adds a lot of life and depth to a raw piezo sound. They're a little pricey, though.

I've had great luck running the piezo of my EB/MM JPM directly into the board in live situations. I've had many people comment that they thought there was an additional acoustic guitarist somewhere

I've run the piezo output of my Parker into a SansAmp Acoustic DI and straight into the PA in our rehearsal space, and it sounds awesome, too.

I tried out a Parker NiteFly M the other day... what a gorgeous guitar. I love the oiled mahogany body. If i were buying a Parker today, that'd be the one i'd get. Sweet. The only drawback with it is that it's not feather-light like the higher-end Fly models. It was easily the heaviest Parker i've ever picked up. But it is all mahogany.
