Pod 2 vs PodXT

Hi guys , I've posted line 6 topics before in this section , so forgive me if your getting fed up of my line 6 posts , but I've been doing some research , and Im considering a Pod 2 or XT , I know its kind of a stupid question , because the XTs are considerably more expensive , but alot of people prefer the Pod 2s , and Ive not been able to find out why , what do you guys think ? , any help is appreciated mucho

The podXT has a lot of potential, great features more fx etc but the long and short of it is it sounds a lot worse.

Technically its cleaner, and brighter but also a lot more harsh. Great sounds are available out of the XT but you have to spend a long long times as in months! to get them out of it.

To me the idea of pod direct recording is for a great quick easy direct tone, with the amount of time spent trying to coax a good recording tone out of the XT you might as well mic up a cab and position mic's for a few hours.

The 2.0 is far far quicker and easier and overall just sounds a lot better. Especially in the overdrive area. The XT cleans are fantastic and the mild overdrives arn't bad but the High Gains are AWFUL. The dual rec sim is shockingly bad and the only other high gain is a soldano or line 6 own "speical" amps. Which are pretty carp too.

If you dont need all of the "pizazz" features of the XT (which i dont) then the 2.0 is a much better sounding unit. I think line 6 made a big big mistake with the XT, which is hard to undersatnd because the vetta stuff is mind blowing.

So it all depends on your needs, if you want a good tone for recording then get the 2.0, if you like tweaking for hours with tons of features then get the XT.

I had the XT and eventually sold it for the 2.0 was best for me, but every body is different

I have never a/b'd the XT vs. my Pod Pro but I have to agree with Track that the high gain tones from the POD Pro are really great sounding. You can argue the realism or that they don't sound exactly like the actual amps...I really don't give a crap. The thing sounds good, period. For what I use it for it is just the best thing ever...quiet rehearsal/practice direct through PC or headphones and for getting ideas recorded.
