POD footswitch options
Hi guys,
Just recieved a POD 2.0 from santa. I got one as i found that i needed a bit of a lead boost as i found playing in my newly formed band that my lead tones were a bit lost in the mix. I'd gotten away with it for the past 2 years thanks to playing in a big band, so i only needed 2 channels so i could set up a solo one about 10 db louder!
current set up is put the pod into the amp (a Vox Valvetronix) which is on a really dry clean sound both channels, one slightly louder than the other (lead boost sorted) but i now have the problem that i need to switch channels on the POD now...
I noticed that the official line 6 footswitches cost an arm and a leg, apart from that measly little 2 button thing, and was wondering if people think that they are worth the money or whether there are some unofficial versions some scally has started selling on the sly...
Cheers
Tim
(For those that cant be bothered to read the whole post, the last line or 2 should suffice!)

You can always look for one of those Behringer foot boards. They're about $99 and work quite well from what I've heard.

Re: POD footswitch options
hmm, midi footswitch does look like a preferable option to the rip off boards that line 6 sell! Id not even thought of midi foot controllers.
anyone had any experience with a POD and a midi foot board? ive never had to program any midi stuff like that before, would it be hard?

Re: POD footswitch options
That sounds like a LOT more trouble than it's worth. Just get one of the Line 6 boards on e-bay or craigslist or something. I've seen good ones for under 100 bucks.

You say that, but if i can track down someone with a MIDI connection on their computer, i could just download someone's setup file from the yahoo group for the foot controller.
The digitech fcb1010 is looking like the route im going to go down.
cheers for the help guys!

I got a Line 6 board for mine. They're built like a tank.
Wouldn't mind knowing if there are other options though. Let us know how you go.

Re: POD footswitch options
Ok then, after looking into it i have tracked down a friend with a MIDI socket on his PC and ordered the behringer fcb1010. plan is to get that and then install the latest firmware and someones sysex file from the vetaville site which looks like a pretty good setup.
ill let you know how it goes.
(As well built as the line 6 ones are, i still feel like i dont want to part with that much money over a foot controller!)

Re: POD footswitch options
phew, the FCB1010 arrived at last, sadly my friend with the MIDI connection on his pc was ill at the weekend was ill so i didnt get a chance to go ahead with the original plan.
instead, i just learnt how to program it. took about an hour all in all, but im pretty pleased with the end result. got a setup which im really happy with, where the top row buttons do tap tempo, modulation on/off, compression on/off, tuner on/off, wah pedal on/off, bank up.
bottom row does vol boost on/off, channel A, channel B, channel C, channel D, bank down.
its a piece of cake to use and i dont think you can get the compression on/off option on a normal line 6 one, so its proved to be better as well as a bargain.
only down side is having to make sure i have the POD right next to it so i can see the tuner, as the board doesnt have a screen for the tuner's display.
note, i didnt use a button for delay as i have a decent delay unit and that way i get a seperate tap tempo for it...

Re: POD footswitch options
Hello and Merry Christmas!
I've just purchased a POD xt online today and plan on getting a FCB1010 controller board. You mentioned it was easy to set up, but I'm wondering how "easy" it will be for me. Can you tell me how you set up the on/off functions for each pedal? I plan on having a pedal for compression, another for distortion, another for delay, and so on. I'd like to be able to turn each of them individually on/off via foot switching. HELLLLPPPP!!!
Man, I'm so thankful for people SMARTER than me. I got the creative gene, not the other... :-) thanks.
