pod or pod pro - which is worth the money more?
ok, so money is not a problem here, and the question is quite simple:
is the
pod pro
so much better than the bog standard pod? *
the big line 6
pedal board
will be used with either, so there is no real difference made by that.
at present i can only see that the pro is rack mountable and has better ADA converters, so are the tones really that much better?
i'm sorry if this is a regular topic in*the forum, i just need as much info as possible.
any help is much appreciated.
thanks
ian

pod or pod pro
I don't own one, but I've spent a substantial amount of time on my friend's Pod Pro and a very fair amount of time on the standard POD.
I can say this: the POD is the
bomb
for portability, practice, jamming, quick recording etc.
The POD Pro however, if it's going to be your main unit or only unit, does sound better (at least to my ears).
If I had to describe it, I'd say it sounded less
canned
.
Hope this helps some.

pod or pod pro
I owned a Pod version 1 which I upgraded to version 2 when it was released. *Then I sold my original pod and bought the pod pro. *So I've had experience with all the PODs.
IMO the POD Pro kills the bean. *I think there is a huge improvement on both distorted and clean models in the POD Pro. *If you're using the POD Pro for direct recording, you'll love the line level input for 'reamping.' The fx section is still medicore in all versions of the pod, but it has improved a bit as newer versions come out. *I use the G-Force for my FX so it's not too important to me. *The pro is a terrific preamp though!
I'd go with Pod Pro if money is not an issue.

pod or pod pro
I'd also recommend the POD Pro. *Mainly for the improved input/output connections available for recording. *

pod or pod pro
Let me chime in and also suggest the Pod Pro.
I'm much more pleased with my Bean Pod now that I've upgraded it to version 2.0, but I still plan to get a Pod Pro after Christmas.
The Pro, like Jefferey said, is simply clearer.
It's not like there's anything wrong with the Bean Pod, it sounds fabulous, but when you play the same settings thru the Pod Pro it's like somebody pulled cotton out of your ears.

pod or pod pro
I guess I clarify:
Main Preamp unit: POD Pro
Practice/Portable jamming with friends etc: POD
At least that's what the round up to for me.

pod or pod pro
thanks everyone, you knowledge is very very useful.
now the question remains, is there anything better than the pod pro in the same price bracket?
i am thinking of the pro (i have a rack flight case and at the moment, portability is not a problem as most of my gigs are session gigs for musicals/concerts at the same venue)
the bean would be amazing for portability, but comparing a pod pro in the flight case to the flight case containing a roctron pro GAP and ART DXR elite, with
combo amp
, two guitars, midi floorpanel and bag with cables and power adapters, the pro would rid me of all bar itself, the guitars and some cables. *no amp, no bag, no crap tone. *i think that line6 have my money, but i just want to be sure.
thanks again,
ian

pod or pod pro
Ian,
I have the Pod Pro, which I love, but for gigging I just use the Flextone II XL 2x12 combo amp. *That may be an alternative for you to explore. *It's like having a rack full of stuff in a nice little package. *
