Pod Pro VS PodXT Pro?? and versions
Hey,
I am looking to buy a rack mountable POD but I dont know if I should go for a Pod or Pod XT. For now I am planning on using the Pod for all of my processing and run it into a poweramp. I have heard that to high gain/sustain sounds onthe
Pod Pro
are better than on the XT model? Do any of you have any experience with the two? What would you reccoment?
Also, does anyone know the details about the version upgrades? What are the higest upgrades for the Pod Pro?

I know that the POD Pro can be upgraded to at least a version 1.3, that's the chip I put in mine...they mailed it to me for free!! Vast improvement mainly in the cabinet models I think, and maybe some of the effects. It did sound better.
Pro vs. XT Pro...I don't know. I love my POD Pro and you can get em cheap now which makes it even better

my centiments exactly. I like the price tags on the used Pod Pro's and I have been reccomended the Pod over the Pod XT. I'm just wanting a second or third or fourth opinion.

I've been considering purchasing a Pod/Pod XT Pro. Any more input would be great.
I thought the Pod Pros could be upgraded to 2.0 or can that only be done with the kidney shaped Pod?

I think that all the Pro's were released with the equivalent of version 2.0, but they just called it 1.0 for the Pro series. The upgrades from that point matched by the decimal number, so a version 2.3 for the bean is equivalent to the 1.3 for the Pro. Line 6 also tended to upgrade the bean versions first then follow up with the Pro upgrades a little later for some reason.
To upgrade the XT versions that can be done via software download and a midi dump...much cooler than busting open your machine and popping in a new chip. At least that's how I think it works, I don't have the XT.

I've heard a lot of cons about the PodXT... but I am still hopeful. I think if that many people are dissatisfied with the XT, Line6 will come out with a new version very soon and the XT will then be one of the coolest things ever made for a guitar.
I am just going to wait until the price on XT's come down a bit. The advantages over the regular version are too high to pass up regardless of tone because the upgrades will soon make the pod pro obsolete.

How many people have you heard are dissatisfied? What is the cause of dissatisfaction that you've heard?
The XT is quite pricey. If Line 6 made a version of the XT Pro just like it is now, but without the built in effects I would jump on it.

I've heard from maybe 4 or 5 people that the high gain of the XT is nothing compared to that of the regular pro. and one person I talked to told me that the ONLY piece of line6 equipment they didnt like was the PodXT. I compeletely respect this guys opinion too.

I think the XT has the pro beat, IMO.
Sounds way more better. Even Bestist.
To me, its more dynamic, and a better mid range. It does require a ton of tweaking, however, much more than the pro series.

Anyone in the DC area have a Pod/Pod XT Pro? I'd like to try one out without dealing with the dingies at GC.
