PODxt versus Sansamp PSA-1
whacha think. I CANT find an XT to compare to my PSA-1.
Im kinda interested if the POD is a better unit then the PSA-1 in terms of sound quality.
I like my PSA-1, but im just curious, is the XT a step up, or a step back?

man, this is funny cause i have a
pod pro
and i've been looking for a psa-1 to test it out, since i don't use any other effects other than a little compression sometimes, the effects of the pod are pretty much useles to me. I think the PODxt's best features are the effects. they are a considerable step up from the POD 2.x series or the POD pro. as far as amp models and distortions i think it would come down to personal taste.

I have a pod pro and I really like it. I only use it for recording, but it sounds great.
I really think that the PSA-1 and the POD are pretty compariable products.. they both can sound great or they both can sound horrible. I think the sound you get out of them will be based more on your knowledge of the unit, rather than their limitations. Of course hands are 100% as important as any preamp.
This ain't like going from a crate to a bogner. More like Fender to Carvin.

I have an XT that I use every day for practice and I've done some amazingly good sounding recordings with it. I wouldn't trade it for anything else out there.

Ok, i thought the first sample i posted didn't sound all that good, specially since i used the studio mode of the Pod PRO, so a new one is on there with the Live mode, and i adjusted the settings a bit.

If you're still using the S/PDIF out I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter if you have it set to live or studio mode, you're getting cabinet emulation.

Actually u get cabinet emulation either way, but the sound changes drastically when u switch the mode, and also the output level changes, i think it goes to -20 on studio mode and +4 in live (i think). anyway, the live mode sounds closer to my live tone, but the maximizer my poweramp and speakers also add alot to the sound.

I found this mp3 demo on my hard drive. It was a little improvised thing I did for a guy who wanted hear a guitar I was selling last year. It turned out okay for what it is. I recorded it with the POD Pro direct into my mac via S/PDIF and a MOTU 828.
Listen to it here
Any comments are welcome. Remember it was improvised in free time, it's not perfect. I'm posting it here because it shows some (but not much) of the PODs range.

Oh, I forgot to mention... Incase you want to hear more, I just started doing a monthly lesson at
Lyndgohrd.com
and for the audio examples I also use the pod pro. Actually all of the audio on my website was done with a POD Pro as well.
