Podxt vs. Pod 2.0

Well, i've been wanting to post this thread because i've got my doubts regardings this two pods.
The first thought coming to your mind would be, the xt is newer (you'll probably asume "better") than the Pod 2.0. But here's the thing, i've used the Line 6 pod 2.0 and i think the pre settings are fantastic, i mean, have you heard those distortions?! are fantastic, so powerful in the lows and rythmic sections and so pierceful for soloing, i mean they are just great. And on the other hand, i havent play the line 6 podxt, but i've heard the samples on the official line 6 website (www.line6.com) and i think they sound sooo vintage, i mean, purple haze, queen songs, etc, etc. Do you guys think that the pre settings of the Podxt suck and im just underating the whole machine? Can you get really good distortions (NOT VINTAGE!!!) from the Line 6 podxt?
Thanks.

Re: Podxt vs. Pod 2.0

The samples on the Line6 site are notoriously horrible.

Most of the people you hear who prefer the POD 2 over the PODxt had tried the earlier version of the PODxt firmware. After the update, it seems that most agree the PODxt is the superior machine.

xt live is like pod xt and floorboard merged together.
I suggest u wait for gt-8 and then make a decision.

Re: Podxt vs. Pod 2.0

Ok, hot info. Ive just heard that you can actualy transport tones from the Pod 2.0 to the xt live! , is this true?!!!
Because if i can put the pod 2.0 distortions in the live xt, i'd definitely have no reason to purchase de 2.0

What do you guys know about this?

I have a Podxt, and I pretty much hate it. Would get the new firmware, but a) I run linux on my computer, so I can't. b) it costs money, iirc, and I don't feel like paying them more for a freakin' firmware upgrade to fix the crappy firmware I've got.

Re: Podxt vs. Pod 2.0

To my knowledge the PODXT firmware upgrade is free, it's the amp and fx packs that cost you money...

As far as transferring "tones" from the 2.0 to the XT consider it transferring "settings", you aren't actually moving the distortions and such, just the various level settings.

I was on the verge of getting rid of my Pod xt pro until I combined it with my marshall jmp1 which brought some life to it, since the upgrade to V2 (which is free :-) I've been really pleased with it, and the new model packs you can buy are awesome (which are an absolute bargain considering what you get for the money - and you get get a refund if you don't like them anyway).

I'm really pleased with the current pod - you just have to put some time in twaeking the sounds, but with the editing software an online libray of patches it's very easy to dial in the tone you want.

Cheers

You should really get the new firmware - huuuuuuge difference. The firmware upgrade is free, what costs money are the optional extra model packs. Check out http://www.tanzband-scream.at/line6/

As for those who asked about the PODxt Live, I almost bought one when I got my PODxt. The foot controls work quite nicely. In the end, the price difference made my decision for me, but definately consider it.
