Power Amp

Hi everyone.
I´m workin on a new setup that i can take on the road.
I looking for a good poweramp + preamp setup and as i for the moment don´t have that much cash i´m looking for something around 500$.
As for a POWERAMP i´m chosing between:
Rocktron Velocity 250 (250$)
Marshall 9100 (is this loud enough) (250$)
Or maybe a mesa boogie 50/50 or 3:95 alltough they cost like what the 250 and 9100 cost togheter.

As for PREAMP i´ll buy a POD pro when i get the money and i´m therfore looking for something that still sounds ok and that will work with the pod pro.
Here´s what i´m chosing between:
Boss GX700 (200$)
Rocktron Taboo Artist (it´s like a chameleon on the floor) (200$)
Johson J-station (300$)

I play heavy kind of metal (check out http://www.mp3.com/slowlife for sounds of my band). And if u have any suggestions or experiences please let me know.

Take Care and thanx in advance
Johan

I have used quite a few different power amps but would recommend the 9100 or 9200 for that extra volume.

These amps are very reliable and are in fact two amps in one so for gigging if you are running in mono then if one side goes down you can just plug into the other side. *If you want more info on any Marshall power amp then email me.

I currently use a 9200 and it is great.

Cheers

Simon
ps Johan do you have any CDs of your band you could send to the UK?

Power Amp

Hi. i just came back from my localguitarstore where i tried a peavy classic 60/60. It sounded ok but they want 350$ for it so i don´t know. If i would buy it i could only aford a tc 1140 parametic EQ / Preamplifier. Well i also found an add for a pod pro and the marshall 8008 power amp (500$ for both) so i´m not sure with what to start with. If i buy the peavy+TC i still have to buy a Pod pro and with my financial situation it might take a couple of months. On the other hand if i buy the pod +8008 i would have everything and then later maybe buy a mesa 395 or something. Well please help me out.

Yeah and Simon mail me ur addy and i´ll try and send u a cd

Hi
Although I have a 8008 as emergency backup (and practise amp) to my 9200 I would recommend against getting one as your main amp. *

All the best tones in rock are from valve amps and valve power amps e.g. the classic EL34 valve power amps.

Although I have only used the Peavy 60/60 once, I have heard good things about it and it seems a good power amp.

As for a preamp I would look at three; ADA MP-1, Marshall JMP1 and Mesa boogie Tri-axis. *The JMP-1 might be best for your needs (Dave Mustaine uses them for example).

For a combined preamp and effects have a look at the Rocktron range.

The thing with rack stuff, and I speak with 8 years experience, is that you want something which sounds great, is not going to break down and is easy to carry around.

Email me personally if you want some more information/advice etc.

Cheers

Hi again.
I tried the POD pro through a mesa 3:95 yesterday and it sounded so good. Well it actually sounded so great that i´m going to trade the only only six string guitar i have left (a ESP MH) + some cash against the POD Pro + 3:95 today. I can´t wait ´till i get home from work. well take care everyone and thanx for your help

Sorry I didn't get around to reading this till now, but I think you should try the Carvin hm750. *I use it with my ****
and I have one of the loudest richest sounds in town. *You can get one for about $479. brand new. *Also, I checked out your band, thats some serious metal. *Keep on blasting. *Peace.

I second that! I have the 9200 and it sounds great in combination with my JMP-1 preamp. It has that special Marshall punch yet a great clarity. If you dig a good tube compression at lower volumes, go for the 9100.
