power on the pedalboard

I use several pedals and I am tired to spend time connecting and desconnecting them before/after playing so I decided to build myself a pedalboard.

Do you know any good (I said good) power supply able to supply all the pedals correctly?

I like the Godlyke / Visual Sound One Spot offerings- the one wall-wart daisy-chain style power supply. I'm running 7 pedals on a board now and it (Godlyke) powers them all cleanly and quietly. Not to mention I don't need to take up pedalboard space with a power-supply unit.

I'll second the Godlyke power-all... I have two of 'em. (One powers a Crybaby 95Q, TS9DX, and CP9 compressor for my backup rig; the other powers a Bad Horsie, Crybaby 535Q, Sparkle Drive, DynaComp, and Boss EQ for my main rig.) They're compact, inexpensive, quiet, and come with a ton of adapters for pedals w/ various types of connectors.

I also use a VHT Valvulator I--it does a good job of powering pedals, plus provides a tube buffer to reduce signal loss/tonal degredation over long cable runs through questionable FX. It has been reliable, but it certainly is more costly (and basically the size/weight of a brick).

Finally, I used an SKB-25 powered pedalboard for a while. I only mention it because it was a miserable experience... it made all my pedals hum like crazy.

i don't know better, but i have only seen goldlykes that go to american-type 110 volt outlet. Are those available for europe type 220 volt outlet?

you could try dunlop dc brick. i have one and i love it..

I'm not sure, but the Visual Sound 1-Spot (identical technology, really) description includes this line: "Will even convert international voltage (100V-240V) automatically; no transformer needed! "

I have one of the dunlop ones as well, but it puts out a lot of electrical noise. My wah picks up on it, due to its close proximity in my pedal board. I heard the voodoo labs, digital music corp, makes one that is completely shielded, which would do away with my problem. I believe it also has some outputs that mimic dying batteries, which make some effects/pedals sound better.....However I think it is way more spendy than the dunlop...I dunno if that is a factor for you or not, and I also don't know if they make an european version or not....good luck, Tobe

i haven't had any problems with my dunlop.. maybe because i keep it isolated. hard to tell. though i've heard that the voodoo labs has a lot of noise too.. each model has peopl who say it's noisy and not noisy.. try them out...

I finally bought the GODLYKE POWER-ALL DIGITAL because:

- Good experiences you had
- Can run off any main supply (100-240v): great for Europe
- 1.7 Amp (1.0 max the 1 spot)

Good choice! I hope you enjoy it.
I'm currently setting up my pedalboard with it, and while this may sound obvious, the extra 5 connection daisy chain does take up one plug from the last chain. So 2 chains = 9 plugs. 3 chains = 13 plugs. Just something to think about... not like you'd use 9 pedals. But depending on your setup, in order to reach different pedals yet still 'hide' the power cable as best as you can, you will end up not using some of the plugs... so a chain of 9 can quickly become a chain of 6 useable plugs that can reach where you want them to go.

I have a pedal power 2, and though I would never get rid of it, it DOES react with my wah (Bad Horsie) if in close proximity. I put them as far away from each other as possible and it cures the problem, but even the sheilding doesnt stop the hum if kept close.

That was my problem too- other power supplies added an terrible amount of noise to my Bad Horsie (2) and that's why I had to go with the Godlyke solution.

really? I have a bad horsie, and I disconnected it from my dunlop because of the hum, but the dunlop still powers other things, and still causes the hum...I was going to look at the voodoo power 2, but its a little more money and if the shielding does not work why bother?

Hey!

I use the Pedal Power 2 and and have had no probs with it at all - no noise at all (even with a Bad Horsie 2), and powers everything except my Boss DD20 Giga Delay for some reason - I'd recommend it.
