Power Soaks

Anybody use power soaks? Any advise, theories, suggestions, or any info.? Aka...dummy loads, and other names that I forget at the moment.

Re: Power Soaks

I've owned a Marshall Powerbrake (sucked my tone) for 5 years,

tried a Hotplate (sounded fizzy with my amp)

and then ended up with an Ultimate Attenuator (www.ultimateattenuator.com).

Most transparent and flexible attenuator I know of, built like a tank and I can't recommend it highly enough. NOT CHEAP!! (But I guess what you pay for).

Basically, YOUR tone, completely uncoloured at any volume.

Hope this helps!

Re: Power Soaks

I have a Scholz Power Soak, run it through my Laney AOR, and love it. Plus, you can set it to one of several ohm settings, as opposed to buying a specific one for a specific ohm rating. It's built like a tank and I get zero tone suck through it.
