Power Supply with Podxt, Guitarport,Toneport?
I'm considering purchasing either a podxt, Guitarport or Toneport. Since these are very expensive here in OZ, i'm looking at buying OS.
We use 240v here, will it be necessary for me to buy another powersupply if i get one from the US? I don't even know what type of powersupply comes with the above devices? Could someone clue me in please, before i head off to the bay.

Suggest you check them out in a local store - most devices like that use a 9v, or 5v wall wart style supply - if that's the case, just trot down to Jaycar or Dick Smith and buy one with the same voltage, current supply and type (AC or DC - most are DC by the way), but with 240v on the mains side instead of 110/120v - or have a look online at the manufacturer's website - most will have a specs page which usually gives you all the power requirements. Gimme a yell if you want a hand!
Cheers
David

I have a GuitarPort -- the power is direct from the computer through the USB cable. That is, there is no external power supply. So I would think it would work just fine for you. The TonePorts are also USB powered, but I don't know about the podXT.

Re: Power Supply with Podxt, Guitarport,Toneport?
Thanks for the replies David and stratoskier
David, i did check the line6 website but couldn't find any mention of anything, but then again maybe i just missed it.
I'll recheck.
That's good to know about the GuitarPort. BTW, stratoskier, how do you find it for recording? Any latency problems? Can it produce a decent enough rock/ distortion sound?
Never having owned any of these or even tried them, i know absolutely nothing about their quality, though i have been reading some reviews.
I'm also considering a V-Amp2 as they can be had for about $200 here.
Is it worth considering also?

I have a podxtlive and it has the same power supply (PX-2) but it's not a wall wart; it is a almost 2 meter cord on one side, then the transformer and another length of about 2m cable. There is a picture of it here (remove the asterisk first):
http://www.z*zounds.com/item--LINPX2
The specs are:
Input: 120V AC 60Hz
Output: 9V AC 2000mA
If you buy a podxt from the US, you can just use the power supply that comes with it but you'll have to buy a 240V to 120V stepdown transformer that delivers at least 2 amps and 100 watts. You should be able to buy one fairly cheap(?) in Sydney. Or you could get a power supply for your market. According to the Line6 website there is a dealer in Sydney called Allans Music Sydney. They might have one. (who knows how much it would be - it may be cheaper to get the stepdown transformer)
Incidentally, if you go to the Line6 (US) site and go to "Support" and don't select a product and for your question type "power supply", you will find the info you are looking for. The first two hits give the specs I gave above and the second talks about power supplies in foreign areas.

Re: Power Supply with Podxt, Guitarport,Toneport?
Thanks for the very informative post, gu1tar
I will checkout Allans online for prices on the power supply and also check out the line 6 site, thanks!
mi2tom, have you done any recordings with the Tone Port that you have posted here? I'd be really interested in hearing it.
*edit* mi2tom, i found one of your Tone Port soundclips.
