Powerman 5000 Tones

Alright guys. Here it goes, I'd like to try and figure out what bridge pickup and what amp would closely resemble the PM5k stuff. I have a basswood JS1000 I was thinkin of the Super Distortion or the Super 3. Amps, no idea. Money isn't an issuse, neither is tube or solid state. I'd like to have a half stack or stack type setup. And cabs or speakers that can NOT break up for ANYTHING would be great. Thanks for your help and replies.

M33's signature Schecter guitar feels like a rejected Yamaha...

Not sure if you've checked it out or not but there was a thread on Harmony Central amp forum titled "Mike Tepesta of Powerman 5000 just left my shop".

Both guys endores duncans, tb-4s(thats a JB in trem spacing right guys?) and the other uses the duncan invader which is so wide they dont make a trembucker version anyway. I have the invader in another guitar and its so ridiculously hot its just insane. Hottest pickup Ive ever used, its got a nice clean sound when split but I dont like the straight clean as much, but since youll probably put it in an rg or the like you wont have to worry anyways. I beleive that have used the Marshall JCM 2000, but i have no clue what the main player amps are. Considering that the jb isnt an in your face pickup you may want to try the invader as its going to get you noticed but the jb is gonna be a little more versatile. I would go with either and a duncan jazz or pearly gates in the neck for some satch tone as well

I'm having trouble finding much by PM5k on Kazaa. Most of the links are
bad. But from what I've just found:

"Tonight the Stars Revolt" sound EXACTLY like what I have with my
VWH (Evo loaded) through my Rocktron blackfaced Chameleon.

"Supernova Goes Pop" has a much deeper, almost Boogie Rectofier
sound, but not exactly. It's a really nice metal sound and IMHO better
then Tonight the Stars Revolt. I'll see if I can dial in something closer to
this sound on my Chameleon over the next couple of days.

Too bad what I record and what I hear live sound completely different!

I just got my Rocktron Piranha today.

It's weird. It's like a stripped down Chameleon with more even order
harmonics rather then the odd order of the Chameleon.

My girlfriend simply says "It sound more metal"

Which brings me to my point. I think I can come close to that
Supernova tune...but not quite. As I said, Supernova has more of a
Recto sound to it...very rich in harmonics, and somehow dark.

All the Rocktron stuff I've played with is very...I don't know...not dark! LOL
I can NAIL the Rythem of Crushing Day on the first preset after I cranked
the treble up a couple of notches!

I'll see what I can get out of all this gear running it through the various
cabs and amps I have at hand. I wish my Laney heads were dead, I have
a feeling they would be my saving grace right now...especially if I had
them modded to 50watts
