Practice Amp - In need of a new one, any suggestions?

I need to buy a new practice amp as my last one died a very sad death.
What would you lot recommend as a decent sounding practice amp for purely personal practice?
I'm going to go down to the guitar shops and try a few out but I don't think its possible to really know if your going to like something like an amp until you get it home and really try it out! Therefore any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Try www.musicyo.com, they have a 10w tube amp for $109 and I heard that it does not sound to bad either.

I'll second the Tech21 Trademark 10. I did a somewhat lengthy review of it in this thread a few months back. Killer amp for the price/size.

How much does the Tech21 Trademark 10 cost?
I went round all the music shops in Glasgow today and couldn't find either a Tech21 Trademark 10 or Electar Tube 10.
All I could find were Peavey Rage 158, Marshall G10/G15 and a selection of awful sounding cardboard boxes with crappy speakers thrown in :sarcasm:

I bought a broken Electar Tube 10 from a buddy and put a decent speaker in it and a new valve and it sounds great.
You can pick up a new one for less than $100. I don't know what that is in your Pounds. But it is an excellent practice amp although it does look a bit freaky

I think the Trademark 10's go for about US$299 new. I picked up a barely-used one for US$175. Don't know what the availablility of the amps is outside of the US.

Get yourself either a Pod or a Tech 21 Trademark 10. They both sound great and have a wonderful range os sound. Each runs @ US$300 and worth every cent.

Laney LC15 is divine. Steve blazed on it, Paul Gilbert wailed on it, I played an open E chord on it - it sounded GOOD!

Superb clarity of tone and real feeling of openness from a small amp.

The Tech 21 Trademark 10's a bit pricey for a practice amp!!! I was thinking of spending around half of what it costs.
Does anyone think the Peavey Rage 158 is a decent practice amp?

boy, if $300 is too much for a practice amp I would hate to see what you play through for a live rig.

Thats a bit cheeky! For gigging I use a Marshall an old 100w JCM900 head with Boogie tubes and a standard Marshall 4x12 cab. Anyway thats got nothing at all to do with what I use for practicing!
I would rather put them money I save buying a reasonable quality practice amp towards a JEM. When I practice I usually plug direct into my BOSS pedalboard which has an amp simulator and use cordless headphones.
Most of the time I practice it is late at night and I live in a flat (apartment to all you Americans out there) so I have to keep the noise down or the neighbours would go nuts.
