Problems with my recto-can anyone help?

I have a new rectifier and im using a Morley Bad Horsie 2 and an Ibanez RG with a DiMarzio tone zone.

I love the sound ive got when im playing rhythm, its just perfect. But the sound isnt quite smooth enough for lead. Im worried it may be damaged.

Ive changed to Svetlana EL34's because i prefered the crunch sounds but i dont know if this would have made a difference. At home i cannot have the amp very loud so its usually pretty quiet.

Im considering a tubescreamer or a DS1 to step on when i want a smoother sound. Would this help??

Has anyone got any tips? I would be very gratefull for any help.

Thanks,
Mark
