Pushing a cab with a combo

Hey guys!
I'm needing a little more volume when i play with my band. I have a Line 6 AX212 2x12 combo amp. It's loud, but not quite loud enough.... whenever my drummer's double bass and cymbols get going, it get's drowned out a little. I like the tone of the amp a lot. I think it's definately an underrated amp in the Line 6 lineup. If they offered this amp as a head/cabinet setup, i'd definately buy one.
So, what i'm wondering is if i could use the external speaker jacks in the back of the amp to run my sound through a cabinet. It could be another 2x12 cab, or if i could, a 4x12. Would this increase my overall volume? I'm on a really low budget, so if i could avoid buying a completely new setup, it would be great.
Please help!
Ben

Yep, that's what they're there for... Just match up the impedences and rock out.

PS- line6 should make a 2x12 specifically designed for their combos...

I run my 5150 combo with my 5150 4x12.
And as Drew said...that's what they're there for.

Great!!!
So, what kind of cabinets would you guys reccomend? I think i'll be shopping for a 4x12. I looked in the manual to the amp, and it said that the cabinet has to be 8 ohms or greater. What exactly does this mean, and what cabs have that ohm rating? On the back of the amp, it says '250 watts max. '.Does this affect what kind of cabs i can use?
Thanks a lot guys!

Cabs are personal preference but make sure you get a cab that kmatches the impedence (Ohms) of the dedicated external speaker jack(s) on the amp. Also consider how portable you may or may not need it to be, too. I would start your search in a store with a widest selection of brands if there is one relatively nearby and bring your amp with you. It would be polite to call ahead and strike up a rapport with a sales rep before doing this. Maybe the sales rep could hook you up with a spot to try out different cabs without being disturbed or disturbing the others. Some stores are better at doing this than others. If you can do this at a time when there is less traffic in the store (not a weekend)-that would be more beneficial to you.

how come an amp like my peavey bandit 2 disables the speaker when you use another cab. it seems stupid, what if you want the out put from both for the spread and volume, surely that is the idea, NOT to disable one.
