Question about Peavey 6505

Are Peavey 6505's just the new version of 5150's? and has anybody played/owned the 6505?

Re: Question about Peavey 6505

correct. new name - same amp - same price (bastards!).
i only say that as i was told (by a Peavey rep) Peavey would lower the prices since EVH doesn't get royalties anymore - but they didn't change a bit.

Re: Question about Peavey 6505

no that is in the 6505 and 6505 plus, the 6505 plus which is the exact same as the 5150II has 6 pre amp 12ax7s. the 6505 which is the same as the normall 5150 has 5 pre-amp 12ax7s.

Re: Question about Peavey 6505

They are the same exact amp, they are using the same components and everything, they just took "5150" and "Eddie Van Halen" because Eddie owns the rights to the name "5150" . . .as well as "Eddie Van Halen" obviously.

EVH quit his endorsement deal, but its such a popular amp so they kept making it, they just took the copyrighted "5150" off and changed it to 6505, which is significant to something, I dont remember what, it relates to Peavey and its anniversary of something but I dont remember what.

Re: Question about Peavey 6505

ok 65 to 05 is where they get the name, the 6505+ notice the plus there has the better pre amp the then the regular 6505, but there both the same as the 5150, new look. thats it there great amps. i like the 5150 better though it looks cooler in my opinion.
