Re: Question on guitar wall hangers vs. stands

When I had a ridiculous collection, I just went to a commercial fixture vendor and purchased a couple sheets of oak-finished slatwall. It's the exact same stuff that most music stores use. Coupled with some locking hangers from Kaman Music's "Show-all" line, it made for an incredibly stable and classy-looking setup. I simply anchored the slatwall into studs along the wall (5 screws up & down per stud). Of course, I've since moved and sold all of the guitars in the pics, but it worked great for about 6 years.

Hardwood slatrail system from String Swing.
Couple examples:

and

Had a guy (and his helper) install them, but he said it was not too hard.
Safer than a stand IMO. And keeping them in a case smothers them, which is not good. Guitars have feelings too ya know!

Re: Question on guitar wall hangers vs. stands

String Swing and Hercules seem to be top-rated. FWIW I use Hercules, never any kind of problem and never any trouble with the grab mechanism. Floyded guitars need a bit of very gentle persuasion to get in around the locking nut, but I've got a 7 hanging on one at the moment.

No dry walls though, so I can't help with mounting, everything in SA has to be brick (according to buyers) - and they wonder why the cost of housing is so high here!
