quilted maple


does a quilted maple top efect the tone at all on a mahogany body

Yes if it's enough thick but if it's just a veneer then it doesn't.

If it's about 1/8" thick or more yeah. Veneer up to about 1mm does squat for the sound and is pure looks. It's also much easier and cheaper to get highly figured figured maple in veneers than it is in bigger chunks.

The maple will probably brighten your tone up a little when compared too solid mahogany. I like that effect.

Quilted tops to look real nice. It's a shame I dont even one guitar out of my whole collection with a quilt top.
