Rack tuner - can I put a tuner in the effects loop? - I coul

Hi gang. *This seems like a silly question, but I haven't found any info on it so I figured I'd ask the forum . . .

Can I put a tuner in the effects loop? *I've got a Mesa Nomad combo amp and my rack is really simple . . . just a Rocktron Replifex. *I was thinking of adding a rack tuner (and possibly a power conditioner) to the rack. *Coincidentally, it's a three space soft case rack *

Because I'm strictly using the rack for effects (no preamps) can I put a tuner in the Mesa's effects loop without any problems? *I don't want to mess with a bunch of fancy routing just to get a tuner in the rack . . . if I can't just add it to the effects loop I'll forget about it and just use my hand held tuner.

I'd expect that the chain would look like this:

Mesa effects send -> Tuner in . . . Tuner out -> Rocktron in . . . Rocktron out -> Mesa effects return

Make sense?

I have a Korg Tone works DTR-2 in my FX loop of my Budda. *I've used it like that for years (with my VHT and a few other heads) W/O a problem. *Ideally, you should put it someplace out of the signal path ( Like a recording out or something) because the less stuff you have in your signal path the better for tone. *That being said, I notice no difference in tone with my DTR-2.
I set it up... Fx send from my Superdrive 30 (Budda) to the tuner in... out from the tuner to my G-Major... from there to the Fx return. *Works great. *
I also have a setting on my G-Major that basically mutes it (G-Major). *Since it is after the DTR-2 in the signal path I can tune in silence... yes I know the G-Major has a tuner, but the Korg unit blows it away by a mile!
hope that helps.

I have a tuner in my system as well, but I don't put it in the signal path.
On the Mesa, there is usually a direct out, I would run a line from that to the tuner in, that should do the trick and not affect your tone.

Nuno . . . no problem! *I actually created a thread about this axe last summer. *It's my custom graphic RG770. *The top is a print of van Gogh's Starry Night. *I did nearly all the work myself. *Here's a link to the old thread about the guitar:*Dave's Starry Night RG770

Thanks for the tips guys! *If I end up getting a rack tuner, I'll probably run the line to it from the Slave out or Recording out on the Nomad.
