Radial Tone Bone??

Anyone use any of these pedals? I am looking at the classic (which a buddy of mine runs into an ac30,) or more likely the hot british model.. Im going to try one out monday, and if I like it I will buy it.. if I don't like it, i'm going to buy a keely 2 knob compressor, either off here if someone is selling one, or of the bay..

Post clips if you have em!

I love my "Hot British" although I rarely use any pedals at all!

I had both the Classic and Hot British. I kept the Classic and got rid of the HB.

Re: Radial Tone Bone??

I was looking into buying one in Germany. Do they work well as a standalone distortion pedal or is it just an overdrive pedal that works better with distortion?

'Cid, I've not heard the classic. What do you find different between the two?

Re: Radial Tone Bone??

Very Gainey (I have a Plextube, which is the dual channel version of the Hot British), has no real useable low level overdrive sound that I could find - you can definitely dial up Eric Johnson type lead tones, but subtle, bluesy break up eludes it completely. In retrospect I should have bought the Trimode, which I think is the two channel version of the Tonebone Classic.

The Hot British was almost too much, and I think it had too much high end. I found the classic to just sound warmer and more to my liking. It did the low gain thing much better too. The guy who sold me the Classic pretty much summed it up to me when he said that the Classic was good for everything from low-gain to high gain where the Hot British started at high gain and went up from there.

Thank's Dave/'Cid that does make perfect sense to me as I've noticed when you start to wind it up, it starts to sound like a mozzi' through the clean in my 900

As I said, with a bit of mid tweaking and rolling off the top end, what you CAN get from the Hot British is an almost perfect Eric Johnson lead tone - but yeah, as Cid said, the level of gain is pretty ridiculous.
