Recomended Distortion Pedal?

I'm looking at buying a distortion pedal to use with my amp, and I was wondering if you guys could make some suggestions?

I fiddled around with a BOSS Metal Zone and liked the sounds, and I like the distortion on Laney or Mesa Boogie type amps.

Come to think about it, I also like BOSS MT-2. Use it with BOSS DD-6 into a solid state amp, and they will blow you away.....

I've tried my bridge pickup Seymour Duncan "Screamin Demon" with BOSS MT-2, BOSS DD-6 into an amp, you can easily get "Scorpions" sound. Really inspiring

Re: Recomended Distortion Pedal?

Depending on what sound you're after,I'd go the Metal Zone for all out distortion and it's cool EQ or the DS-1 Distortion which is another great Boss pedal, which isn't as lethal but still sounds great.

Re: Recomended Distortion Pedal?

It all depends on if your amp is tube or solid state. Boosting a solid state amp sucks, while boosting a tube amp can be magical. With the MT-2 you're pretty much stuck with it's own voicing, while if you boost a tube amp with something fairly transparent your amp and guitar still shine through. I used to own a Metalzone and while it's fun to make little crappy practice amps sound like vintage Pantera, it's still a ****ty sterile tone.

+1 on the MI Audio Tube Zone, since you like Mesa like distortion...
