Recomended For Dropped C

What are recommended string guages for tuning down to dropped C?

Currently i'm using 10's for my SZ520 and wondered if there is a recomended minimum if your going that low.

Regards,

daniel

Re: Recomended For Dropped C

I would have chosen 12s (and 11s for D) for that tuning, but I use 10s in standard, so by default I'd go to a higher gauge for low tunings...

There are people who use 8s for D tunings, so you could probably get away with 9s or 10s in C. Depends on your touch as well...

edit: typos, typos, typos, and typos...and it was only a 2 line post!

Dropped C i would probably use .11's.

.12's seem a little bit too extreme for me

I usually use an 11-56 set in C#, depends on how tight you need the low strings. Maybe buy a set of 10-52 and a single heavier guage(like 56 or 58 ) for the low C.

I use either 11's or 12's. I don't even really notice much of a difference.

Re: Recomended For Dropped C

I use Ernie Ball power slinky's 11-48 and a 52 gauge string for the top. I like this set because it still feels a lot like 10's a half step down from standard.

Re: Recomended For Dropped C

I find that 10-52 works fine when setting up guitars for Drop C.

12 seems to be alrite for me, but I guess 11's could do fine also. You could customise and buy 2 sets, for a heavy bottom, but easy to bend top. I believe D'addario makes hybrid sets like these.
