Recommend me a distortion
I currently have a
Les Paul
with a JB in the bridge and using a Marshall JCM2000 TSL for an amp. I love the amps overdrive when I am playing stuff like Tool, but now I need a pedal to get that good (actually lofi) industrial/goth distortion.
I dont like playing things in stores so I figure Ill just get what you guys recommend and if I dont like it Ill sell it.
Would the
Boss metal zone
accomplish this? Something else?

Will it give me a distinctly different sound than my Marshall?

Re: Recommend me a distortion
I play just that, industrial/goth techno-ish metal
www.myspace.com/squirrellyarts
the distortion I use is a Line 6
Uber Metal
, and its just great, hands down the best distortion pedal I have owned, it has its own noise gate, so you don't get that annoying squeals when you mute your guitar, and its versitile as can be.
I definetly suggest you try it out,
good luck.

Re: Recommend me a distortion
Doesent the guy from Tool use a Big Muff pedal for a lot of his distortion sounds?
If you want a really heavy, quite rectifier ish pedal, try the H&K Warp Factor, i got one for just 18 Euro from Thomann and its pretty good, if my TriAxis or JVM didnt have such great dist tones, i'd easily be using it.

Re: Recommend me a distortion
The guitarist in my band has a ubermetal. Ill have to play around with that a little bit. Maybe Im a snob but I just figured it would be lame because its a Line 6, but I could be wrong. Ill check out that H&K. I think a DOD pedal might sound too cheap. I have a
chorus pedal
and its alright, but not great. Its hard to get this lofi sound without sounding terrible...like an Ibanez thrashmetal I have.

Radial ToneBone Classic or Fulldrive 2 Mosfet. Both are permanent fixtures on my pedalboard

I guess its pretty broad, but an easy distortion to compare it to would be something like NIN.

Re: Recommend me a distortion
Pods do work for that sound imo, perhaps better than one would think. Nice pedalboard btw cid, unique, and versatile. how you like the crybaby from hell? Im using the dime custom myself, along with a floor pod and its numerous wahs. They are really quite close in tone too which is sort of freaky.
