Recommend some quality short cables

I just bought an attenuator for my amp and need some suggestions for short high quality cables, all I can find in my local shops are 20 footers or stomp box connectors that look very cheap.

Re: Recommend some quality short cables

Loads of people stupidly wrote on harmony central about how the transformer was blown on their head/amp and that attenuators are stupid. Now attenuators in my opinion are great but the reason why these people fell into such misfortune is because they used a GUITAR CABLE as opposed to a super thick audio cable. YOU MUST NOT USE A GUITAR CABLE between the head/attenuator. I did my research and i have had my amp work fine and happy for ages with my attenuator and received none of the problems other people spoke of. I hope to gawd you read this before you go and use a guitar lead with your attenuator.

I'll second the previous post. Best case scenario with a guitar cable is you ruin the cable by running it from the amp to the attenuator. Worst case is you fry your output transformer, or some other ruinous outcome. You need to use speaker cables, not instrument cables.

Re: Recommend some quality short cables

DO NOT use a guitar cable (or patch cable, or any other "instrument" class cable) on anything "behind" your amplifier; e.g. between your amp and attenuator, between your attenuator and speakers/cab, or any combination/iteration thereof.

Seriously. It can (and it's not just some remote, outside chance) permanently destroy your equipment. You can use a speaker cable as a guitar cable, but it'll sound like butt because it's not shielded or gauged for that use, so that's not a great idea either. But it's nothing compared to having an instrument cable eating your equipment for breakfast. Just bite the bullet and go online...I can name four shops off the top of my head that sell shorter lengths of proper speaker cable.
