Recording with MP3 or .WAV backing track on Toneport UX1

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a Line6 Toneport UX1 and was wondering if its easy to record a solo over a MP3/.WAV backing track? I've read on Line 6 forums that you can't record over an MP3 backing track and can only play over it. In order to record over a backing track, you need a recording software. Is this true?

Could anyone with a toneport please help before I buy something I don't need.

Thanx!
