Rig update!! Marshall MP1 and TC G Major...

Last week I bought a new TC electronic G major and a used Marshall JMP1!

The ADA mp1 I already had is placed in the effect loop of the marshall and the Hughes and kettner tubefactor is in front of the marshall mp1 but it is controled with the G major (relay).

The result is that I have a great sounding, looking, and versatyle rack!

I run this trough a JCM 800 head and 2x12 cab.

In the near future I want to buy a marshall 20/20 but I've heard that you could boil an egg on it??

Do you have experience with the marshall 20/20? Is it lloud enough to play in a band?

Well jemke, sounds like you've got good taste in rack gear... Here's a pic of mine, btw:

I use the MidiPro to switch between pre's, but the idea is essentially the same... Anyway, I would recommend a Mesa 20/20 over the Marshall for a couple reasons. First is that I a/b'd them when shopping around for a power amp, and I really believe the Mesa sounds better - atleast for me! Also, the Marshall can ONLY be used in stereo - it needs a load on both outputs at all times, while the Mesa can be used as a one cab mono rig when you want (save hauling an extra cab around for rehearsal and casual jams and really small gigs - oh who am I kidding; I hardly ever bother with the second cab any more...). The Mesa's tubes are exposed in the back to improve air flow and tho' it runs hot, there's plenty of room for circulation - I use a small clip-on fan in the back of the rack that keeps the air moving, and I've never had a problem with over-heating... And the Mesa 20/20 is plenty loud even for good sized indoor gigs if you run two cabs.

So I guess a mesa is ideal! I hope I can A/B the marshall and mesa in the future. I know a second hand mesa for sale but it is the 90W amp. Way too heavy and loud. But the tone is very good. I tested it toghether with the TC G major.

Re: Rig update!! Marshall MP1 and TC G Major...

Hi just done a search for a G major post and found this. I have just bought one and want to use it in conjunction with my Marshall JMP-1 and Boss GX700.

I use my Marshall for the clean and distorted sounds and my GX700 for the harmoniser and wah and now I want to use the G major for the other FX such as delay octave reverb etc. What is the best way to hook it up?

Cheers.
