Rocktron Amps

I know that many have Rocktron effects, but has anybody gotten a Rocktron amp?

There is the Rampage model, which looks pretty cool. I went to the website, but no sound clips are available.

Anyone?

Re: Rocktron Amps

They are decent little solid state combos, you should try one out to see if it is right for you.

Rocktron stuff is usually very reliable, I like the Intellifex alot, I've also used some of their preamps that were really nice and had some very nice tones.

No offense jaxadam, but can you give a reason for your dislike, otherwise it really has no merit and doesn't add much to this thread. If you had a Rocktron unit that blew up or you could find tones you liked in product X, that would be helpful information.

Re: Rocktron Amps

I didn't like the voodoo valve, or the velocity amps and cabinets. But this was a long time ago. I just personally didn't really like anything about them. Everybody's got their own opinion, someone else might like them. I just didn't like the interface or the tones, and I really care for the cabinets at all.

I'm sure they have plenty of good stuff out there, this was just my experience, and I prefer other things.

Re: Rocktron Amps

I had a VV, it had some good tones, but required alot of tweaking, pre-EQ, post-EQ, etc... and I didn't like most of the presets, none of them were really useable to me. But with some tweaking it was a rockin' preamp, the effects were very good too. I think my frustration with it was that it required too much tweaking. I've gone back to being a head and pedals guy.

The Rampage has a much simpler interface, so it should be pretty easy to dial in some cool tones. That said, it won't totally get the monster rockin' stack tone, no small amp will, but a stack can get you evicted

Re: Rocktron Amps

Yeah, I was just thinking about combo amps (ala Rampage). Something with a nice clean channel (maybe some chorus), that can be switched to a good distortion. Just lookin around....

Re: Rocktron Amps

I like Rocktron preamps and fx units. I have a Velocity 120 and it sounds great but, is a little shy on bass (only 10 lbs and one rack space though so I let that slide). I played thru a 2X12 modeller amp of theirs on Monday and it sounded like GARBAGE! I like the Voodu Valve & Prophesy preamps. Intellifex, Intelliverb, & Xpression for fx.

Re: Rocktron Amps

I use a chameleon and Velocity 300 and absolutely love it. I do get plenty of the low end chugga chugga. I wish I was able to get the Velocity 500 when they were out

But if you're talking about a guitar head, I'm sorry I can't help.

But I'd buy my setup over and over again.

Re: Rocktron Amps

I had one of their (Egnater) TOL100 2x12's for a while... that was an awesome amp, and I keep kicking myself for selling it. I've been giving consideration lately to buying a Rocktron Vendetta head (basically an updated version of the TOL100) to play around with.

Of course, those are all tube... I have no idea about their digital amps. From an FX standpoint I had an Intellifex and Big Crush compressor, neither of which I was overly impressed with.
