Rocktron Hush

Any Rocktron Hush users here? The rackmount units, not the pedals...I am thinking of getting one and trying to find out if it's worth it.

I have a HUSH IICX in my fx loop of my Mesa V-twin rack. I placed it there cause placing the Hush after the Preamp causes the clean channel to sound muffled. The Hush IICX is only activated when I switch to the dirty channel (thanks to the little switching system of the V-twin). With this in mind, I was able to use raise the preamp's gain without getting extra hiss and feedback, and it's simply dead silent when you're not playing.
I had a Super C before and I wasn't too fond of its simplicity. The IICX had LED indicators that shows you much of of your signal is being gated (plus it makes my rack look a little bit brighter :P). The IICX also acts as dual noisegates if you want to hook up two preamps with different noise suppression settings unlike the Super C. Either way, if you can get either unit for >$100, grab it.

As far as the noise supression, were they both pretty equivalent? What about tone coloring? I just need one gate, since I will only be using my Triaxis preamp. If that is the case, would you recommend the Super C?

As for noise suppression, both are very solid once you find the appropriate threshold for your application. There is 'minor' tone coloration in my setup because the hush is in the fx loop set at 90%. What I end up getting is a distorted channel with a little more bass and cleaner mids that's quiet when not played.
One thing i didn't like about the Super C was that there was only 1 LED for the gate that indicates if its activated or not. With the Hush IICX, I can 'visualize' how much of the signal is being gated AND how much of it is being filtered. It's mainly ease of use as to why I ended up buying a Hush IICX twice.

One thing that is important is that the SUper C is 100% analog gating while the standard hush is digital. So if transpareny is important (for me it is a must) then go for the Super C or the Rocktron guitar silencer if you can find one used.

I never realized when i was younger that all the digital gear in my signal path was screwing with my tone and making it sound more and more processed regardless of how many effects I did or did not use.

The Boss NS-2 pedal also works pretty well as a gate but obviously isn't a rack unit.I hope that helps

Cool beans, guys. For those reasons, I will probably go with the Super C, as keeping as much of the path analog as possible is the name of the game. Thanks again for much appreciated gear assistance, Pauly! And thanks for the info on the IICX, Judas.
