Question

Rubber stops for Dunlop wah?

Do you guys know where I can get some really bendy/flexible rubber feet to fit under my Dunlop wah? It needs to go under the "rocking" part. I'll explain my dumb mistake here in a minute.

I planned on modding my GCB-95 Crybaby today with a new footswitch button and a trimpot to adjust the sweep, etc etc. My new button is high quality and nice, but it's too short. So, I cut the rubber feet down lower with a razor knife. It looked like crap and still left me with a problem. Sure, now the pedal could activate the button, but it was too sensitive without the lengthy rubber stops and while rocking the wah it would turn on and off.

I see my mistake now, I should've either: A) cut them shorter or B) left the rubber completely alone and built up height (i.e. a guitar pick) under the center. But I didn't, so, learn from me! I also thought I could get more range this way. So, any suggestions? I know it's a simple problem, but I can't think of anything short of chopping a big eraser into jagged pieces. I'd rather do it more "professionally".

Re: Rubber stops for Dunlop wah?

Exactly whats the height of them rubber stops cause this place jay car electronics has rubber stops in heights of 6mm and 8mm and they just stick on, I guess if you wanted to you could stick them on top of each other to get the height needed.

Hope that helps a bit anyway.

Re: Rubber stops for Dunlop wah?

**UPDATE**

First of all, I want to say that I finally got to the modding part of the job today. I did the following to my Dunlop Crybaby: took out the buffer circuit, installed a new smooth switch, converted it to true bypass and added one 68k resistor (original value was 33k). Holy crap, everybody mod your Crybaby now, it sounds great! And I've only tried it on a small practice amp so far. It's really a long story, but I went through many mistakes because I didn't read the instructions well.

Now onto the rubber stops. Well, I changed my mind, considering I'm enjoying the extra foot movement. The only thing I'm going to do is glue a small ... something to the back part of the pedal, because it always "clanks" when the metal hits. Other than that, it's great. The front part of the pedal doesn't make noise, it's just sensitive, you gotta not step too hard or you'll turn the wah off. So, I'm glad I did the mod and glad I took the rubber feet off after all!

I used this page for everything: http://www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/mods/dunlop.htm. I removed the buffer, installed an Alpha brand DPDT switch for true bypass, then I did the "vocal" mod. The best way I can describe the change that took place by putting the 68k resistor in, is to say it now has the range of the wah in "Bulls on Parade", maybe a little more.

I also have another 330k resistor sitting around for the "gain" mod, which I might do.. It's supposed to give you more bass as well. I played the Crybaby on a different amp today and was less impressed, so I might put that resistor in as well to give it more punch.
