I can only talk about the 9002 (i have one). Let me say that i absolutely love this little thing. It's so versatile, has all the effects that you need (compression, chorus, flanger, phaser, 2 delays and 2 reverbs) and some strange effects too (step, cry, ring mod). It sounds awesome through headphones. And it always amazes me how good it sounds for direct recording. I use it mainly for recording distortion sounds and it delivers a great tone. It's a classic box that i would never sell.

I loved my 9002 as a practice tool also (replaced it with a PS02), but would have to say that IMO it's distortions aren't really up to snuff for live playing or recording. *For that the GT2 is much better. *Of course, you don't get much switchability with the GT2 and NO FX beyond amp sim, so you have to factor that in. *It's not really set up to do the same things. *So, what's the order of importance in the things you want to do, and what other gear do you have? *I mean, if this will be the ONLY thing you have, you kinda HAVE to go with the Zoom - you NEED a basic chorus & reverb (actually, the Zoom's verb is pretty icky, but useable).

I owned a GT-2 and upgraded to the Trademark 10 and the Sans Amp Classic. I owned the Zoom 9002 and upgraded to the Korg PX-3. I personally did not like the tones in the Zoom 9002. I loved the tones in the GT-2. I would not buy another Zoom product. I'm hooked on Tech 21 stuff.

Got a Zoom 9002, great little unit, but there is a delay when changing patches, this may pose a problem if you intend to play live with it.
