Re: Satch goes back to Marshall amps

Ones taste in amps can be very personal, and perhaps Joe has just changed direction.

None of us will know the true details, and further do any of us really care what amp he uses? I don't buy gear based on endorsements, and I suspect most of you don't either.

The association with Joe was one of the factors that got me interested enough in the Mini Colossal to try it out. But you're right, I made the decision to buy it based on the way it sounded compared to other small tube amps.

Re: Satch goes back to Marshall amps

I bought the JSX head because it sounded great. Like a hot rodded Marshall. Not because of Joe. I noticed it because of him, but I don't really dig his tone, but the amp rocks

Re: Satch goes back to Marshall amps

I'd agree with the past two posts. I didn't really give Peavey much thought until Satch's JSX line. That made me think, "hey, I should check out some of their stuff if the company in general is good enough for a guy like Satch to work with..." It certainly raised their profile for me, not just with the JSX line.
To Hall: the reason I feel bad for those people is that I'll be one of the ones taking advantage of their fanboyism by happily taking the "inferior" JSX off their hands.

Re: Satch goes back to Marshall amps

If he does go back to Marshall full-time, maybe Peavey will have a new 6505-ish line?

I just find it really hard to believe that Peavey can't nail the Marshall tone to Joe's satisfaction.

Re: Satch goes back to Marshall amps

He probably is just searching for a different tone with chickenfoot than he wants for his solo stuff. Maybe he will end up using marshalls for chickenfoot and keep using the JSX for his solo work.

Re: Satch goes back to Marshall amps

This whole thing is weird. I personally love the JSX but for different reasons (it seams) to Joe...

He only uses the clean sound of valve amps (as he said in various interviews) because the amps would inevitably get damaged or dropped so he stuck with pedals and any old valve amp with a clean sound would do (with certain quality speakers in cabs). I liked the distorted channel of the JSX more so then any 5150 or mesa or Marshall but they can all sound the same through the clean channel so why Marshall unless he prefers the cabs?

I think Joe probably wanted the freedom to use whatever he feels like again but in the process shaft Peavey royally! I certainly feel he should have never made a signature amp if he knew full well his pedals are his tone!
