satriani: string gauge of choice

I ever wondered what string gauge Satriani uses as of late. D'Addario says 10-46, but i have my doubts about it. I remember reading somewhere that he's using 0.0095-0.044 (tried this set - somewhat unbalanced and hard to bend on a FR-system...). I searched, but to no avail.

Anyone knows more about this?

yeah I seem to remember joe plays 9s, which always made me feel better about using them... ;-)

From what I understand Joe plays with a very light touch and very low action. His neck is almost perfectly straight. Anything heavier than 9-42 probably can't work for him.

i remember being in the front row of a satch gig and being shocked at how high his action was. Maybe it was just one guitar that i remember but it was seriously high

@guitarkatana - no, i've seen how joe is playing. he has a rather traditional touch and sometimes plays very hard... at least my impression was...

a .009 set is what i'm using too (dean markley - love that tone... ). it's maybe the most universal gauge. did you know: allan holdsworth plays .008 !!

yeah and I think Yngwie and Paul Gilbert uses 8s.

But I use Ernie Ball 10s right now.

gilbert? no way... he uses 0.10 minimum. he's a freak :O)
