Re: Show your "Current" Rigs of doom.. NO OLD PICS ALLOWED
waylay: see anything familiar?
hahaha... totally forgot to take a shot of the cab with the rack :P
here's an older shot of my "rig of doom" with the cab... 2 Mesa C90 Black Shadows on top and 2 Vintage 30s at the bottom.
I sold the cab to one of my buddies in '05 and recently got it back last summer... it still looks the same except I had to recone one of the C90 and is missing a bunch of screws that closes the back panel. I also might have to find someone to restore the cabinet to its Black Taurus finish.... can anyone chime in on someone who restores cabs in the LA area?

Ugh. What the f***??
I was going to get a rackmount crybaby DCR-2SR, when I found out how much they are charging us in the UK.
In america they have to pay $599. Over here its £853 !! (That's $1,730.91 in US dollars)
What a rip off. I should be able to buy 3 rack crybaby's for that price. Ridiculous.

Sure... the midi floorboard's a DMC Ground Control, the 1st incarnation of the current Ground Control Pro. The one I have is V1 and looks like it came from the mid 90s; the latest version is 2.5 according to
Voodoo Lab
. V2.5 is more compatible with the GCX Switcher unit(up to 4!)... but it's a $100+ upgrade (shipping send/return to NorCal + labor) to the circuit board if I decide to get a GCX, which my setup is ready to be connected... still waiting for the tax return
As to what it controls... it only changes patches in the G-Major and has a Midi Thru into the Engl Z-11 Switcher which controls the channel switching functions of the Engl 530 (hi/lo gain + clean/distortion + bypass on/off + contour on/off) and the Mesa V-Twin (lead/clean/mix). Unfortunately, I cannot access those functions as CC as V1 is only limited to changing all-unit bank changes and individual unit bank patches. I still haven't used the expression inputs yet but I prefer this over the Ground Control Pro as it's not bulky!
As for those wondering what the V-twin rack sounds like with the 2:90... a beast with the 2:90's deep + modern modes on! *please* read the V-twin's manual "settings" as the starting point and set the preamp's volume around 25% - 50% range. I got this preamp as "tight" as the 530 by replacing the Mesa tubes with JJ's.
The wah is an Ibanez Weeping Demon... the 2nd one I got as I sold the first one to a friend's who wouldn't want to sell it back to me. Works great and I have no complaint other than a slight "click" when its on/off/on. The wah is not connected to the midi board by any electronic means... they're just next to each other

I just sent an email to the
Jim Dunlop
customer service. They said they can send me the rack crybaby for £364. What a difference.

Re: Show your "Current" Rigs of doom.. NO OLD PICS ALLOWED
Yeah. Someone must be pocketing a lot for that original UK price.
The JD customer service was very helpful. I looked on the UK
bay website, but since they're so expensive here, no one owns a rack crybaby to be able to sell it.

Hehe. Well that's what this thread is for. Making people wish they had better jobs and more money.
