Re: Show your "Current" Rigs of doom.. NO OLD PICS ALLOWED

I have both the Xpression and the G-Major and in my rack, I have the G-Major because it's just a tad bit quicker and easier to use (the interface is much easier to get to what you want to edit quickly)...but the Xpression has a tad bit better quality effects I think.
If you're a set it and forget it kinda guy, the Xpression is a little better quality I think, but I like to make changes quickly sometimes so the G-Major ends up being what I use most of the time.

That black Destroyer with the 3 pickups, it looks like the ones that Phil Collen used for the Pyromania era (Def Leppard), Am I correct?

I'll post pictures when I get my new amp.

And what about program changing? Any drop outs in the Xpression...I'll be using it live, so I need it to change programs smoothly without cutting my signal for a brief moment like any "cheap" multi-fx would do...

Those pics look mighty familiar

How do you like the BBE?

What is the extra button on your Tube Screamer?

What is the Line 6 pedal?

Sorry for the bad quality, I used my phone's camera. I couldn't afford two EMGs, so I only got one and disconnected the stock neck pickup. I left it in there for aesthetic reasons. My multieffects pedal is missing from the picture, as I was using it with GarageBand downstairs.

Yep, I like the BBE, especially for cleans. Sometimes I like it for lead, but sometimes it can get a little sterile. The extra button on the Tubescreamer is the true bypass footswitch that Keely installs on his modded TS's. The Line 6 is an Echo Park delay.

Yeah, that's an American Deluxe. Hands down my best guitar. My dad bought the amp a while ago from a bandmate of his, and the PRS was my first guitar, but it ended up being played by him for the first year or so (before I actually got into guitar). Then I got the Strat for a birthday/Christmas up in Nashville at Gruhn. The blue RG550 was bought with some saved up money, and the black one was found at a Pawn shop for $100 (couldn't pass up on it). That was all about a year and a half ago. I got the 770 a couple of months ago after saving up some more money. Although I want to, I won't be getting any more guitars soon. I'm saving up alot for a Splawn Quickrod though. It'll be a while before that one. There's a pretty large jamband circuit here in Memphis, and I've got a friend (actually, Shawn Lane's old friend) who's going to try to help me get in a gigging band. Then I can actually put this stuff to use and make some money.

What gauge strings do you use on the strat and what kind of pickups? Also do you use any lubricant for the nut so it stays in tune with the whammy because that is one of my biggest problems with my American deluxe.

Re: Show your "Current" Rigs of doom.. NO OLD PICS ALLOWED

I use 10's for everything. For me, they're the perfect balance of easiness to play, tone, etc...

It's funny you mentioned that about the lubricant. Just recently I started putting some teflon grease in the slots. It works wonders now, and I can abuse my trem much more. I also noticed that every often, certain strings would "catch" and hang in the nut slots, so I took some sandpaper and ran it through each slot a few times. Don't do it too much though, as you don't want to alter the slot height.

I think I need to do that to all of them especially since right now I have 11's on it and the E string barley even fits in the nut The top of the g string slot is the worst though, when I try and take strings off sometimes i have to yank the string out of the nut (not like really hard but harder than I should have to)

Yeah. When you do it, be sure you try not to touch the bottoms of the slots, as you don't want to deepen them. If you're like me, you don't want to buy a set of files or take it to a tech that charges $100, so you have to do it the poor man's way.

Oh, so your dad plays, too. See, my dad hasn't played in a really long time, and all he ever had for an electric was a Squier Tele, so he doesn't understand the concept of "moving up." However, he has a Martin, which he'd kill me if I touched, and a classical, as well. He never gigged, so he doesn't understand that I can't be in a band with my very small amp. I've been rejected without even trying out from a couple of bands simply for not having something loud. These bands were started by friends of mine, so it's not like it was a bunch of strangers. My parents have tried to set me up with some lessons twice, but the guy never called back both times. So, they gave up, and told me that they guessed I just wasn't meant to have lessons, even though I've hit a brick wall in my playing and I really need lessons.

It'll be a ****ing miracle if I ever play a gig in my life.

Try Mike Gallaher. He's the guy who I met at the Nashville GC. Before he knew I was from out of town, he mentioned something about lessons. He's played with Dennis Chambers, Victor Wooten, Adrian Belew, and Joe C-ocker (stupid filter). The guy can flat out shred (tastefully too). PM me if you want details. I got his card right here.

I haven't met him, but I've heard great things about his playing at GC.
