simplest way to achieve this setup

Check this out:

Basically, I'm super super happy with my carvin legacy, but I need a third channel. I plan on getting a higher gain preamp for my third. Basically, I want to easily switch between

Red Line

Guitar (pedals before amp) - Legacy Preamp - Effects loop pedals - Legacy Power amp

Green Line

Guitar (pedals before amp ) - High Gain Preamp - Effects loop pedals - Legacy Poweramp

thx. I've been pondering this for a while, I just can't think of an easy way to wire it.

two A/B/Y pedals...
maybe a MIDI loop switcher with a midi board to consolidate your foot dancing to a minimum :P

What preamp? I've been thinking of doing something like this for my legacy too. But since I need effects I'm probably going to get a Digitech GSP1101, which automatically swaps between the maps internal preamp and it's external depending on preset.

I think if you use some other preamp though two A/B/Y pedals should work.
