sitar effect pedal - danelectro owners?
Danelectro *is releasing a new sitar effect pedal which obviously makes your
electric guitar
sound like a sitar. I don't believe it is available yet (should be a couple of weeks and will retail for $149) My question is, are there any danelectro pedal owners out there who are happy with their stuff? I generally thought of danelectro as crap (and ugly and cheap looking to boot), but a sitar effect is too good to pass up.

i've always wanted a sitar, and hell, you're right... this does look too interesting to pass up...
guess we'll just have to wait and see until its released...

Sweet! I was considering buying myself a cheap beat-to-hell sitar for christmas but this would be far better...

I have the Fabtone
distortion pedal
. And was very pleased with it for awhile. They have a good sound. Not saying they aren't the highest quality. But they are good enough quality unless your picky as hell about tone.

The Danelctro pedals aren't really as bad as I figured they'd be. If one were to replace the housing for the effect, they'd be great. The Dan-Echo is a great
delay pedal
. Definitely has a nice warm sound. Those little mini's aren't that bad either. The Milkshake (chorus) is awesome, for the price it can't beat.
I saw the Sitar pedal and it definitely perked my eyes up. My friend is going to order one or two for his store, so I'll give it a try then a review when it comes it. I was already thinking of things it could be used for.

On a related note, are there left-handed actual sitars available/in existence?

I've been waiting for something like this. I'm surprised that it wasn't done sooner. Thanks for the info.

yeah, regardless of reliability, I'll probably winding up getting one as soon as they come out. Just wish it didn't look like a pedal Josie and the *****cats would use.

The sitar effect sounds like a hit. I've never tried or bought a Danelectro pedal because of how they look. Maybe I shouldn't make up my mind before testing...
Does anyone know what this effect is doing to the signal? I would guess something like boosting the high frequencies and adding a fast vibrato.

FWIW, I can get a sitar-like tone with my Ibanez FL9 Flanger with a touch of delay and verb. *Some of the Dano pedals sound very good, but the build quality is a couple notches lower than the Boss standard.

Has anyone seen a pic of it anywhere on the net? There's nothing at Danelectro's site yet.

sitar effect pedal
I've heard a real sitar before(live) and I don't think any pedal can emulate that sound.A sitar sounds very alive and rich and trying to recreate those dynamics through a pedal would be like the DMA vs
tube amp
thing.
I don't know about this new danelectro pedal though.

Zoom has a sitar patch for their car stereo sized rack unit. I was trying it our back in 92-93 at a music show but with all the background noise it was a bit hard to tell how good it was. This was the same unit that had the explosions etc in it.
I've got a daddy'o pedal and it's pretty robust.
