I currently have a Marshall 20th anniversary 50 watt JMP 800 w/412 cabinet vertical inputs, which I love but the wife and kids aren't too crazy about, especially at night. I also have an old Marshall lead 12 which is mediocre at best and a Guitarport which is great with headphones and OK through Edirol MA-5A micro monitors.
For guitars I mainly use either a 7DBK, RG 570 or G&L Tribute s500 premium.
I'ld like to get something to practice with that is a real amp. I'm thinking either old tube 5 watt like an Electar, Magnatone, Champ, or new Crate V58. I'ld try to get distortion with the
tube amps through a Keeley Java Boost (which may be the greatest pedal I've ever stepped on) or other Keeley distortion like a ds1 ultra, Keeley rat or Keeley baked ts9dx. Or I could go transistor and get the Tech 21 trademark 10.
Then again maybe I'm just nuts and I should get better active monitors for the Guitarport ( I don't have a
power amp).
Or should I try some kind of Hotplate which I'm afraid of because I don't want to fry anything?
I'ld like to keep it under $300.
Any suggestions I'ld really appreciate.
